Workshops take place throughout the year around the country, giving us opportunities to continue the work that many of us start at the annual BDDG Convention.
They provide a safe place where we can keep the focus on ourselves and share our experience, strength and hopeas well as feelings of sadness, anger and despair. The days are structured so that there are times for working together and for enjoying each other's company over lunch and coffee.
Workshop styles vary according to who facilitates them. We are very fortunate to have the support of two therapists who have worked with the BDDG Families Group for a significant length of time. They help those who attend the workshops to bring any issues, no matter how big or small, and to talk them through in a confidential and supportive group setting.
In the past workshops have focussed on such topics as ‘Early recovery and responding to change’, ‘Thinking about ourselves’ and ‘Anger’ – to mention but a few. The size of the workshops varies depending on the location and the number of people able to commit to coming. They tend to range from 6 to as many as 15.
The cost ranges from £30 to £45 per person for a day. However, do not let the cost put you off as we have a support fund for those who are in less favourable financial circumstances. We all remember what it was like, particularly in those early days when money was often almost non-existent or every penny was spoken for.
